I bought this book for a hostess gift. We have a group of woman who meet once a month and cook a themed dinner. I always bring a book based on the theme and keep in mind what the hostess would like. This month's theme is of course Hawaiian and the hostess is an avid gardener. I can't wait to present her with this amazing book with such an aray of fantastic photos. The photos in this book are full of color and beauty for anyone, not just a gardener. I would highly suggest this as a coffee table book during the spring and summer months.

I first learned of this book at www.sanctuary-thebook.org
That hooked me; that and my knowledge of the books of these two wonderful authors.
Sanctuary is simply indescribable, and rather hard to imagine how two people managed to create something so beautiful, so rich, and so lyrical. The more than 800 photographs, the 24 chapters, the global diversity all combine to make this a work of true literary and scientific heroism. The Foreword by the Queen of Bhutan is perfect and the book utterly infectious. I purchased the signed, numbered limited edition and it was $150.00 well spent. A true jewel of a book that we keep on our coffee table.

This book mirrored my entire trip to Alaska from Ketchikan, up the Inside Passage and through all the major attractions in Southeast, and then across the Gulf of Alaska, continuing on to Seward, Anchorage, and Fairbanks. The chapters on Denali National Park and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge will blow you away with the stunning photographs and great commentary. Leave your camera at home and just buy this book, you will never get photos this good!
